This programme is open to individuals in SIOC-CDT beneficiary areas, including Gamagara, Ga-Segonyana, Joe Morolong, Tsantsabane, and Thabazimbi Local Municipalities.
About SIOC-CDT
Established in 2006 by Kumba Iron Ore Limited, SIOC-CDT aims to uplift and develop communities adjacent to the Sishen Iron Ore Company’s mining operations in the Northern Cape and Limpopo. With a focus on sustainable development, the Trust has funded numerous projects that continue to benefit local communities beyond mining activities.

Programme Details
- Duration: 36 months
- Participants: 50 learners will be selected for technical training
Entry Requirements
- Minimum Education: Grade 12 with English, Mathematics, and Science. Additional trade-related subjects (N2 Engineering Qualification) are advantageous.
- Age: 18–35 years old
Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning (ARPL)
Applicants with relevant work experience can apply for the Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning (ARPL), which allows access to the trade test:
- Experience: At least three (3) years of verifiable work experience.
- Application: Complete the official ARPL application form from the toolkit for the specific trade.
- Age: Minimum age for ARPL registration is 19 years.
- Application Deadline: 31 January 2025
- Programme Start: Early 2025
